Biotin contributes to the normal maintenance of hair and skin. These are a daily chewable — no pills to swallow.

Straight talk, because you’ll hear it from us before you hear it anywhere else: biotin is genuinely useful if you’re deficient. If you eat a normal diet, you probably aren’t — the daily requirement is tiny and eggs, meat, fish and nuts cover it. Anyone promising you regrowth from a gummy is selling, not advising. Hair also grows about a centimetre a month, so nothing here shows up in a week.

One thing worth knowing. High-dose biotin can throw off common blood tests, including the one used to check for a heart attack. If you take these, tell your doctor before any blood work and stop two days beforehand. Nobody in retail tells you that. We’d rather you knew.

If what you’re actually chasing is regrowth, talk to a dermatologist — that’s a different conversation and a different product.
